One More Night With the Frogs

(Exodus 8:9-10) And Moses said unto Pharaoh, Glory over me: when shall I intreat for you, and for your servants, and for your people, to destroy the frogs from you and your houses, that they may remain in the river only? And he said, Tomorrow. And he said, Be it according to your word: that you may know that there is none like unto the Lord our God.

Egypt, the mightiest nation in the world at the time of the text was going through the second of the ten plagues that came over the land. The plague of the frogs.  After weeks and perhaps even months of being surrounded by frogs day and night, and night and day, the Word tells us that Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron and asked for them to pray to the Lord to take away the frogs. Moses asked Pharaoh when did he want the frogs to be destroyed, and the Egyptian monarch gave a very puzzling response: he said tomorrow.

Indeed it was a very foolish answer given by the most powerful man in the world, turning down an opportunity of being free from millions of frogs that had plagued the nation, and instead optioned to spend one more night with the frogs.

This is a spiritual picture of the choice that many in the Church today decide to make: putting aside God’s helping hand to try to “deliver” themselves out of their bondage by depending on their works, or a preacher, or a church or a denomination, and the result of their choice? Spending one more night with the frogs.  Jesus said in Luke 9:23 “…if any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.” It’s not about who you and I are, but it’s all about who Christ is, and what He has done, and what He can still do.

The time is now, it is today that the Lord wants to move in your life, and start a renewing work in your heart, it is today that the Lord wants to restore your marriage and reach out to your backslidden spouse or children, it is today that the Lord wants to heal your broken heart; but are you willing to give it all to Him today and allow the Potter to make you and form you to what He wants you to be for His Glory?

Are you willing to place your faith today in what Christ did at the Cross, which will permit the Holy Spirit to bring life to your everyday living for the Lord? Or are you going to put it all off for tomorrow letting “self” get in the way of your deliverance?

My friend, it is not worth the delay, as a matter of fact, delaying the Cross is a dangerous choice one can make.  The Bible tells us that Satan is a roaring lion, and without mercy, without remorse, he seeks whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8), doing what he can do to destroy your faith, thus, making you spend more night with the frogs.

Come back to the Cross today.  The Modern Church has turned it’s back to God’s way of deliverance; the Cross is no longer preached, the Blood is being ignored and the moving of the Holy Spirit is a thing of the past.  It is only faith in Christ and the Cross alone that can break chains of bondage and bring forth a victorious life, that first step of faith can be taken today.  As the leper said to Jesus “Lord if you will, you can make me clean”, the Master didn’t tell the man, “I’ll think about it, come back tomorrow”, but Jesus said as He touched the leper “I will; be you clean.” And the Bible tells us that the leper was immediately cleansed from his leprosy. (Mat. 8:2-3)

Remember, God is a today God, and as the way He wanted to heal the leper and did so at that same instant, He wants to and can do what He said He will do for you today. You don’t have to be like Pharaoh and all of Egypt spending one more night with the frogs, but you can be free today.

Let today be the first day of the rest of your life.
